Steelmaking And Casting
After ensuring the accuracy of the billet analysis performed by the laboratory based on the selected standard required by the customer, the billets are inspected in the hot and cold state by the Quality Control Unit.
Hot Billet Inspection:
The goal of hot inspection is to control casting defects that can be detected visually. At the beginning of inspection, the casting machine lines are controlled and the defective billets are separated. In case of detecting any defects, the casting station manager is informed to resolve the defect.
Cold Billet Inspection:
The goal here is to identify any defects in the appearance of the ingots based on the SKS-F 51200001 Defect Table. At this stage, defects such as belts, longitudinal cracks, cross-sectional cracks, porosity, depressions, protrusions, and other defects are inspected and controlled. At this stage, random checks are performed on a number of ingots by randomly cutting a corner of a billet and sending it to the lab for the final control analysis.
