In order to maintain and constantly improve the quality of the products based on devised plans and according to standard guidelines, the steel lab in South Kaveh Steel Company samples, rests, and analyzes the raw materials and the finished products in predefined stations. Moreover, in order to better maintain the equipment and control corrosion, the lab samples and analyzes water, oils, and lubricants.
In order to improve the quality of the products, the lab acts as a regulator during the entire manufacturing process until reaching the final product, testing, analyzing, and controlling the company’s products based on the quality policy, the standards, and the requirements of the customer.
The Steelmaking Lab
This lab utilizes two quant meters (OES) to perform the analyses related to the constituent elements of the finished ingot products, while controlling the chemical combination of the samples sent from the electric arc and ladle furnaces in order to obtain the combination required by the customers.
The Ironmaking Lab
This lab includes three main sections, i.e., physics, chemistry, and equipment labs, which are explained below:
- The Physics Lab:
This lab utilizes various preparation devices, including different sample dividers, jaw crushers, and disk mills, to prepare the samples, while it employs measurement tools, including screen shakers, compressive strength measuring tools, abrasion resistance measuring devices, and ovens to determine physical characteristics and perform physical tests on received samples based on national and international guidelines and standards.
- The Chemistry Lab:
This lab utilizes skillful personnel to perform chemical analyses related to the received samples including produced waters and waters circulating in the reduction and steelmaking plants, the oxygen site, and the electrical supply substation. Moreover, the lab performs chemical analyses related to raw materials entering the plant and the sponge iron product. The lab sends the reports on these analyses to the relevant departments and units. Furthermore, macroetch examinations and the sulfur print tests related to the manufactured ingots are also performed in this lab.
- The Equipment lab:
This lab utilizes equipment such as UV-VIS spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, CS Analyzer, and atomic absorption spectroscopy device to perform the analysis on gases entering and circulating in the direct reduction plant, the carbon and sulfur analysis of received samples, and the analysis on the slags in the steelmaking plant, and it sends the reports to relevant departments and units.
The X-Ray Lab
In this lab, element analysis on mineral substances including iron ore, sponge iron, slags, insulators, and the analysis on research samples are performed using the XRF device, and the results are reported to the requesting departments and units.
